but mohanty pressed his point and let it be known that he would proceed on leave if his transfer was not granted. mohanty had been insisting on a transfer particularly after the election to the corporation. with the standing committee in place, his decision-making powers have been reduced. he was being embarrassed by the corporators day-in and day-out and some of them were behaving improperly with him. the mch commissioner is learnt to have opted for the central service, but naidu has asked him to stay in the state service and help the government translate its dreams into actions. in all probability, mohanty may get a posting at the chief minister’s office or in municipal administration ministry as secretary. the mch officials and elected representatives are clueless as to who will replace mohanty. earlier, the officials said additional comm i s s i o n e r (projects & planning) j c sharma would take over as the new commissioner. but, the sources said sharma too was contemplating to move out of the corporation and had already requested for a transfer due to personal reasons. many senior mch officers - g s g ayyangar, l premchandra reddy, r karikalvalaven and r p sisodia, who served for long and were instrumental in implementing several reforms, have already been transferred one by one. with most of the crucial posts now manned by relative newcomers, and a new council now in place, the government is learnt to be reluctant to move mohanty out.
